My name is Xiaozhu Yu, and my major is WNM. I was born in China but have been living in SF for 2 years. I’m a full-time student, and this is my 5th semester in AAU. I have an internship experience in China, I’ve worked as a retoucher in www.myplay.cc for 3 months.
I received two bachelor’s degrees in China 2012，one degree is in Graphic Design, and another one is in Business Administration. After making a difficult decision，I chose WNM as my new major in AUU. For me, WNM is relative with graphic design and it’s not boring as business administration. I'm very interested in front-end web development, user interface, user experience, photography, and illustration, and I want to be a real master in these kind of fields.
I will study harder in this semester, get knowledge and make new friends in this class. Also, I hope I will pass the Midpoint Review!

THESIS ABSTRACT
Handmade Master is an application that install on iPad, it's a platform for sharing and learning how to do crafts. The goal of Handmade Master is giving people a chance to show their creativity, and leading people love to use old stuff to do crafts. You could share your handmade experience by uploading images, texts, audios, and videos to Handmade Master. The more works you share, the more credits you get. If you think someone did a really great craft, you can click like to collect it.
STATEMENT OF INTEREST
Every year, every family throws off amount of useless stuffs, such as old clothes, broken cars, and useless furniture. Most of these stuffs become the garbage and harm our earth’s environment. Garbage disposal is big problem to every country, and I’m thinking about to solve this problem by using Hand Master. I know a lot of people like to do the handmade items, and I hope using old stuff to make the crafts could be a popular trend in our daily life.
For me, I’ve got a lot of old stuff. Many of them I can’t use anymore but I don’t want to throw them off, because these stuffs are my personal memory, and I want to keep them. Anyway, I take too much places to store these useless stuff, and I hope they could be useful for me. I’m interesting in do the crafts, and I want to keep old stuffs, that is why I design the Handmade Master.
In the ongoing debate about globalization, what's been missing is the voices of workers — the millions of people who migrate to factories in China and other emerging countries to make goods sold all over the world. Reporter Leslie T. Chang sought out women who work in one of China's booming megacities, and tells their stories.
